A person who contaminated treats with tranquilliser and distributed them to minors at a summer camp in the area has confessed to sexual offenses against two boys both nine and 10.
Jon Ruben was taken into custody after eight youngsters and a grown-up fell ill at the facility in mid-summer.
The senior citizen, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, confessed to a total of 17 charges when he was present at the judicial center on the end of the week.
Nevertheless, he refused to admit one particular crime he was accused of, which was against a young boy.
The defendant was held in detention ahead of a subsequent court date on late November.
'Treat game'
The prosecutor, handling the case, detailed Ruben's offending to the court.
She said his victims were disadvantaged youngsters who were attending a summer program which he operated.
The defendant conducted a "sweet game" with the youngsters, Mrs Prior stated, in which he would go into the sleeping quarters when they were getting ready for bed and ask them to ingest treats "rapidly".
She stated to the judge Ruben had conducted this practice with the boys "for many years", and minors had previously become sick the following morning.
She explained the defendant had been successful in rationalizing this over a long period as the minors being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his family member had worries in summer 2025.
Mrs Prior KC added: "Recently" his stepson had worries about the activities, justifiably.
"They chose" to have a look in the individual's items."
The legal counsel explained materials including lubricant, ointment and medical needles were located, and his stepson contacted the police about his concerns.
She said the defendant proceeded to play the "treat game" with six youngsters that time - that Saturday - and they were all sick the subsequent day.
"Authorities" had not responded by that point," she continued.
The regulatory agency, the investigative body, previously told that it was investigating Leicestershire Police's handling of the situation.
The legal representative said the youngsters were struggling to walk due to their sickness, so the stepson called the police a second time.
She stated the defendant then conducted the "candy game" in a space of five children.
