Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a colorful mix of heroes, and a thrilling plot including divine entities, demons, and sinister influences growing in influence within the urban setting.
Note: Revealing details for the latest installment of this adventure are included.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
Episode 3 concluded with a dramatic pause and presented the initial group of heroes who will split off from the central cast to undertake their own adventure, apart from the remaining groups.
This warrior group includes Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney), the cleric (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Considering a large ensemble, it was evident from the start that keeping everyone at one table would be impossible.
That’s why, the initial installments of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the characters’ stories before dividing into three smaller tables: Fighters, Planners, and Questers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
According to the DM, the combat-focused party is for participants who are drawn to a classically intense fight-heavy story mode where diplomatic options are rare.
Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might look mismatched, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these particular heroes are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the team knows exactly where to go next after a intense opening clash with the enemy group.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—exploited the enemy for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the character, and taking all the enchanted items to sell off.
The traitor then settled his debts and escaped to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, desires retribution.
- Kattigan has experience in the northern area and warns that it is a dangerous environment.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute the fighter and instead freed him, have no other options.
- Yet, their position as important members in the influential clan could enable the party enter locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, The grateful character pledged a life debt to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the rulers that rule Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city too risky:
- Thimble and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The healer turned against the influential house and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This results in them few options but to travel to Timmony in search of the antagonist.
